Hook: At an age when most people prefer to stay cozy with their knitting, a 98-year-old grandmother is shattering stereotypes by running a marathon in high heels.

The incredible feat took place this weekend during the New York Marathon. Lucinda Fitzgerald, aged 98, surprised everyone by completing the 42-kilometer race dressed in a Chanel suit and her trusty 10-centimeter high heels. Her perfectly styled hair and impeccable lipstick didn’t budge an inch throughout the duration of the race.

Not content with merely finishing, Lucinda even managed to outrun numerous younger runners, completing the marathon in a respectable time of 5 hours and 32 minutes. “She passed my team and me halfway through,” said a stunned professional runner, “and she even waved at us with a little hand gesture, as if nothing was amiss.”

However, Lucinda remains modest about her achievement. “Oh, it was nothing special,” she said, still wearing her high heels. “I was just doing my usual shopping, but I took a little longer because I had to stop to buy some new lipstick.” When asked about her exceptional fitness, she simply replied: “My secret? Martinis and an episode of ‘The Golden Girls’ every night. It preserves better than any anti-aging cream.”

The next time you feel tempted to complain about your sore feet after a long day, think of Lucinda and her high heels. She is living proof that at any age, you can push boundaries and achieve the incredible.
