Intro: On the front page, meet our new local star: Pascal the rat, who volunteers at the city library. It seems humans aren’t the only ones who love reading.
Article:
Never underestimate a rat who loves to read. If we thought we had seen everything, Pascal the rat comes to shake up our preconceived ideas. Indeed, this literature enthusiast was spotted in the large local library, sorting books in alphabetical order, using a clever system of mini levers and pulleys.
“We were perplexed at first,” said the head librarian, Ms. Agathe Verneuil. “We began to notice that the books were neatly arranged and that some of them even had small handwritten notes attached to their cover, giving a brief overview of the content. After a thorough investigation, we discovered the culprit: a charming gray rat whom we named Pascal.”
The rodent remained a mystery for a while, until the library team trapped a small camera on a shelf corner, capturing the little usurper in the act of literary critique. It turns out that not only does Pascal love to read, but he also has a preference for detective novels – which explains why the section has always been impeccable.
“I suppose rats don’t have prejudices about literature,” laughs Ms. Verneuil. “It’s a reminder that the joy of reading is universal. Pascal is now a valuable part of our team, even though we still have to clean up his tiny rat droppings.”
A word of advice to knowledge-thirsty readers: the next time you go to the public library, don’t forget to take a peek between the shelves, you might get the chance to meet the cutest (and smallest) librarian in town.
