AVALANCHE OF DISASTERS: END OF DAYS OR A GOOD EXCUSE TO DITCH WORK?

An extraordinary chain of catastrophic events gives the week an apocalyptic feel: a great reason to stay in pajamas and sip on your day’s coffee.

The planet appears to have decided to offer its inhabitants a particularly crunchy week. Between earthquakes, tsunamis, tropical storms, and ladder falls at the local hardware store, it seems we’ve hit the jackpot in the disaster lottery. But should we really fear the end of the world, or more so the end of our popcorn reserves?

It all started with an earthquake of magnitude 8.3 on the Richter scale, surprising the inhabitants of our modest town in the middle of a bingo game. “I don’t know what’s scarier, the end of the world or being buried under a mountain of bingo tokens,” shares Mrs. Perkins, a local who survived the drama.

Barely had we recovered from this shake when we were hit by a raging tsunami. It certainly wreaked havoc, but above all, it offered local surfers the opportunity for real challenges. “It was a crazy wave, bro,” Dave, a local surfer, assured us before realizing that his board had been carried away by another wave.

And to top it all off, just as we were recovering from this saltwater torrent, a tropical storm hit. Residents were forced to swap their umbrellas for flippers. As for the ladder falls at the local hardware store, they created real chaos, causing more fear than all the natural disasters combined.

“I’m just relieved to work from home,” shares Mr. Johnson, a full-time remote worker. “Who knows what could have happened to me if I had to go out to the office?” A sentiment we all share, isn’t it, dear readers? Sit comfortably with your morning cup of coffee and let’s see what the day has in store for us: a rain of frogs, perhaps?
