At first, it’s general embarrassment, then hilarity. A snail with a passion for the art of cocktails is sowing chaos throughout the city.
Animal extravagance hits its peak this weekend. Bars, usually frequented by humans, are now the playground of an extraordinary snail. Named “Gastéron,” this mollusk with curious habits has developed a real passion for cocktails, creating genuine panic among local bar owners.
According to one witness, Gastéron was first spotted in the city’s most chic bar – the “Glamour Daze”. “This snail was there, perched on the edge of the bar, calmly absorbing a Manhattan, as normal as can be”, declares Joanie, a barmaid at Glamour Daze. “I didn’t say anything, thinking it was a setup or a prank by my colleagues. But when it started to sway from glass to glass, I realized something was wrong.”
Despite Joanie’s efforts to remove Gastéron from the bar, the snail ventured into various other downtown establishments, causing scenes of widespread confusion and eliciting incredulous laughter. Some people even started looking for snails in the surrounding woods, hoping to find their own innovative bar companion.
“I never thought I’d say this, but this snail has a better knowledge of cocktails than most people I serve”, laughed Jason, owner of the “Cocktail & Dreams” bar. He jokingly adds: “Maybe I should offer it a job. At least it doesn’t complain about the music.”
Although this story has provided unexpected entertainment, local authorities have urged bar owners not to serve alcohol to snails. “I love a good joke as much as anyone, but serving alcohol to a mollusk is truly a harebrained idea”, said Sergeant Mike O’Sullivan of the local police. “We must remember we’re talking about a snail and focus on the safety of all our citizens, humans and pets alike.”
