The cows of La Plaine-du-Bourg have shocked the rural community by refusing to produce top-quality milk, leaving dairy producers biting the dust.
Farmers in La Plaine-du-Bourg have always been proud of the quality of their milk, boasting a soft and creamy product that defies comparison. However, an unexpected scandal is unfolding, as the cows, who are at the heart of the local economy, have apparently decided to drastically lower their level of production.
“It’s as if they are on strike,” sighs Jeanne-Marie, a local farmer. “One day, they were giving the best milk I’ve ever tasted. The next, it was of a disconcerting mediocrity. I thought they might be sick, but the vet says they’re in top shape. I’m at a loss.”
The region’s veterinarian, Bernard Dupont, confirms. “I’ve never seen this in my life. These cows are healthy, well-fed, and well-cared-for. Yet, they’re producing disappointing milk. It’s a real mystery.”
The community is in turmoil over this situation. Several theories are circulating, ranging from a bovine rebellion in solidarity with sacred Indian cows, to a plot orchestrated by almond milk producers. Meanwhile, the local school is organizing a fundraiser to support the farmers. This initiative has touched Jeanne-Marie: “It’s in these times that I’m proud of our little community. Whatever happens, we support each other.”
