The news popped like a kernel of popcorn in a hot pan: the King of Popcorn, irritated by the global preference for chocolate, has declared a culinary war on the Chocolate Kingdom. The conflict, which began over a dispute about the use of salted butter, quickly degenerated into a full-blown war of taste.
The Chocolate Kingdom, led by the cocoa bean enthusiast, responded by imposing import taxes on corn coming from the Popcorn country. In retaliation, the King of Popcorn has banned all chocolate-based products, including chocolate bars and cookies, in his kingdom. Experts fear that a shortage of corn and cocoa may lead to a global increase in the prices of popcorn and chocolate.
UNESCO stepped in by presenting a ratification plan to resolve the conflict. Their proposal involves the creation of an international gastronomic team charged with organizing a culinary contest between the two kingdoms. The loser will not only have to acknowledge the superiority of the winner but also remove all import taxes.
During a press conference, UNESCO Director Raimundo Pereira stated: “We hope this conflict will end not with a war… but with a war of taste buds. This is a unique opportunity for all of us to come together and savour the best flavours these kingdoms have to offer”. Meanwhile, popcorn and chocolate lovers around the world are holding their breath, while anxiously nibbling on their snack of choice.
