At the outset: One must believe that fashion can be as deadly as it is glamorous, at least according to the latest example from our local highway.
For the first time in road history, the A10 highway transformed into an impromptu runway, except the models were not skinny starlets, but corpses from a tragic traffic jam.
At around 3 PM yesterday, a semi-truck lost control and crashed into a concrete barrier, causing automotive chaos worthy of a Hollywood disaster movie. But the most shocking part was not the mechanical carnage, nor even the horror of the dozen deaths. No, the most surprising spectacle was the impromptu appearance of a deadly fashion collection, created from the victims’ clothing.
“Of course, it’s tragic,” said a passerby, who wished to remain anonymous. “But I have to admit, it’s the most avant-garde show I’ve ever seen. It’s like Alexander McQueen organized a post-apocalyptic show on the highway. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s incredibly aesthetic.”
Improvised models draped in what were once high-end fashion garments, torn and stained with blood, scattered across the asphalt. A strange mix of glamour and the macabre that led some to see it as an act of subversive art, rather than the terrifying product of a deadly traffic jam.
“It’s like a disturbing art installation,” said another onlooker. “You can say what you want, but it makes you reflect on our obsession with fashion and the ephemeral nature of life.”
Of course, this may seem like a discourse aimed at rationalizing horror. Nevertheless, the message is clear: even in the darkest calamity, beauty can emerge – even if it is tinged with death.
