Frenzied Multiplication of Chupacabras: Havana Invaded by Flying Slugs!

At first, it seems like a horror movie plot, but Havana is indeed under the threat of airborne gastropods.

The day had started like any other in the bustling Cuban capital. However, as the sun slowly sank into the purple sky, a shockwave hit Havana. Swarms of winged slugs, commonly referred to as “Chupacabras” in the absence of any plausible connection with the Hispanic folklore creature, descended from the sky in a graceful and bewildering dance.

“There were slugs everywhere, on the streets, on the roofs, even inside houses,” recounts a still-shaken witness, “their wings rustled like autumn leaves carried by the wind. It was terrifying!”. Then, the inhabitants of Havana did what any sensible human being would have done in such a situation: they brought out salt.

“I always have a handful of salt in my pocket, just in case,” confirms Maria Esperanza, a local resident. “We proudly defended our city against these flying mollusks”.

The event triggered an unprecedented wave of solidarity among the population. “Havana is no longer just a city, it has become a symbol of resistance against the invasion of flying slugs,” asserts Enrique Sanchez, a self-proclaimed Chupacabra specialist.

Moreover, Prof. Jorge Fernandez, who keeps repeating that he is not a biologist but a professor of Latin American literature, stated: “This is not the first time we have witnessed an invasion of flying slugs. These creatures are fascinating, especially with a glass of rum in hand”. A point of view that seems to be shared by the majority of Havana’s inhabitants.

Despite the absurdity of the situation, the inhabitants of Havana continue to demonstrate resilience and bravery in the face of adversity. Meanwhile, the rest of the world watches this curious phenomenon with disbelief, wondering whether it might be best to start stockpiling salt… just in case.
