Intro: An inspired city dweller blurs the lines of reality, having achieved the feat of religiously paying rent for an apartment he’s never set foot in.
In a rather surreal twist of fate, Robert Fakename, 46, known as the “ghost tenant,” has managed to make headlines. This man caused a storm of controversy after paying rent for an apartment he rented two years ago but has never lived in.
According to unique sources exclusively confirmed by our team of extremely dedicated investigators, Fakename signed a rental agreement for a luxury apartment in the city center two years ago. “He came, signed the contract, paid the advance, then he left and never came back,” said real estate agent Fred Fictif, “we think it’s the ultimate ruse to avoid mother-in-law visits!”
Even the neighbors are perplexed by this strange situation. “I wish my neighbor was a ghost!” jokes Victoria Voisin, who lives in the neighboring apartment. “With the money he’s spent on rent, he could have invested in a haunted house and hosted real ghosts for that price,” she adds, shaking her head incredulously.
Fakename, who was contacted by our editorial staff, simply stated: “I just wanted a place to escape virtual reality, even though I’ve never really felt the need to get away.” As for whether he plans to visit his apartment in the near future, he replied: “I’ll see when my aversion to moving and assembling IKEA furniture has decreased.” It’s unclear whether his landlady is reassured…
