Massive Sock Fall Over the Mediterranean – Hippopotamuses in Shock!

Amid the azure waves, a rain of socks disrupts the swimming of hippopotamuses and clouds the maritime landscape.

Dawn barely breaks the mist that strangely floats over the Mediterranean when suddenly, the silence is shattered by an unusual noise. A deep sound, resembling rain, but a rain like no other. It’s not water falling from the sky, but socks. Thousands of socks, of all colors and sizes, mysteriously fall from the sky, causing great confusion among the hippopotamuses who were indulging in their morning rituals. Where they come from, why they fall, or what cosmic mechanism could explain such a phenomenon, remains unknown.

“We’ve never seen anything like this, it’s absolutely astonishing!” exclaims Alberto Frotti, the keeper of the national marine park, eyes wide in front of this unprecedented spectacle. “In fifty years of service, I’ve seen storms, stranded boats, hammerhead sharks, but never a rain of socks! The hippopotamuses are completely disoriented. They don’t know where to take shelter. This is unheard of!”

Some experts try to explain the phenomenon as a climatic anomaly, a particular air current, or even a clandestine art installation. But none can provide a definitive answer. The socks continue to fall, forming a colorful layer on the blue waters of the Mediterranean, while the hippopotamuses struggle to find a semblance of normality in this extraordinary day.

“The important thing is not to lose one’s footing… or rather, not to lose one’s sock!” quips Salvatore Stravinsky, an old local fisherman, trying to downplay the situation. And as if the universe decided to back up this attempt at humor, a red sock with white polka dots lands on his head, adding a touch of absurdity to an already exceptional day.
