“On this extraordinary day, the reflections of mirrors around the world have decided to switch sides. An unprecedented optical rebellion sowing chaos and unbridled imagination.”
Once upon a time this morning, as the world woke up from its slumber, it was greeted by an unexpected sight: the reflections in bedroom mirrors, car windows, and even seas and lakes, were all inverted. Right and left eyes swapped, the right hand becoming the left and vice versa. The silent revolution of reflections began, yet without any demands or spokesperson.
According to renowned scientist, Dr. Luna Tique, “It’s as if the mirrors decided to undertake a collective reflection on their true identity.” No rational explanation has yet been found, but that doesn’t prevent this day from turning into a carnival of absurdities and wonders. Painters are trying to capture this madness through their canvases, poets are flooding social media with double entendre verses, and children are ecstatic.
“It’s a lesson in humility for all of us,” declares an anonymous street philosopher. “We spend our lives trying to see ourselves through others, but what happens when that reflection switches sides? It raises the question of who we really are.” And while all of this may seem like a bad-taste joke from the cosmos, perhaps there is something deeper to learn?
As we grapple to understand this new reality, let’s remember the warning from the great artist Salvador Dalí: “Do not fear perfection, for you will never achieve it.” As if to say, let’s accept chaos, embrace the unexpected, and face our inverted reflections with courage and curiosity. Who knows what tomorrow holds? Perhaps shadows that refuse to conform or clocks that move in the opposite direction. Whatever the case, be prepared to be surprised.
