In a story that seems to come straight out of a cartoon, a squirrel has been arrested for a series of burglaries committed in a small French community. Yes, you read correctly, a squirrel. The little rodent, equipped with a mini backpack and a tiny master key, managed to steal provisions from several houses in the community, causing astonishment among the inhabitants and perplexity within the police force.
Indeed, it was after several complaints filed by victims that the police began to investigate these mysterious intrusions. “The victims all reported the disappearance of nuts, seeds, and sometimes small shiny objects. We were initially skeptical, but the traces left at the scene of the burglaries did not correspond to any human pattern,” said Commissioner Dupont.
The squirrel was finally caught by a team from the canine brigade, who managed to follow its scent to a tree that served as the little offender’s hideout. Inside, they discovered a veritable treasure trove: nuts, seeds, and all the stolen shiny objects.
