Article:

Reactions are strong in Central Leaf Park, following a series of layoffs that shook the squirrel community. The family business “Sweet Acorns Inc.”, active for several generations in the field of nut collection and storage, is said to have laid off more than half of its employees for reasons yet to be disclosed.

“Honestly, we didn’t see this bolt from the blue coming,” declared a particularly hairy squirrel at the exit of the large oak tree, the headquarters of “Sweet Acorns”. “We were gathering nuts at a good pace, and right after hibernation, bam! No more job. How will I feed my ten little ones now?”

The scandal quickly grew, with squirrels showing their displeasure by conspicuously snatching their neighbors’ nuts or, in extreme cases, tipping over bins in the park. “We’ve never seen this here,” exclaimed Mr. Whiskers, a neighborhood cat, while watching the scene from his window. “They’re generally so orderly, these little guys. It’s sad to see them like this.”

“Look at how they treat us, as if we were rats!” declared a disgusted squirrel, asking to remain anonymous. “It’s a real disgrace! We won’t let “Sweet Acorns” ruin our pride and dignity as hardworking squirrels!”

The entire park is now waiting for a response from the management of “Sweet Acorns Inc.”. In the meantime, the laid-off squirrels are considering retraining in urbanized food waste recovery, despite the social disdain this profession elicits among rodents. “It might be degrading,” sighs a squirrel, “but someone has to pick up those delicious pieces of abandoned pizza.”
