The ladies’ man, the beloved rooster of the village, has been dethroned by a very audacious turkey, creating ripples in the village of Saint-Gobory.
In the picturesque village of Saint-Gobory, the calm and peaceful life of its inhabitants has been disrupted since the tumultuous arrival of Dédé, a turkey with oversized ambitions. Long known as the prime hunting ground of Gérard the rooster, the land of old Mrs. Michu has become the stage for a power struggle that is dividing the community.
“Rooster Gérard has never had to face such an opponent,” confides Mrs. Michu, 72, adjusting her floral scarf. “Dédé is a turkey with a confidence and assurance that I have never seen before. Last summer, I caught this rascal parading in front of my hens as if he were the master of the place. Poor Gérard didn’t seem to understand what was happening.”
Dédé’s arrival has not only stirred trouble among the poultry but also among the villagers. Some, admiring the turkey’s flair, have chosen to side with Dédé, while others, nostalgic and loyal, remain behind their champion Gérard.
“I grew up with Gérard, but I must admit that I am charmed by Dédé’s charisma,” declares Pierrick, 35, the village baker. “It’s a true revolution in our daily lives. That’s all anyone talks about at the bakery; it has become the number one topic of discussion. It’s almost like a kind of live soap opera. It’s incredible!”
Tension is rising in Saint-Gobory as summer approaches. Who will be the king of Mrs. Michu’s henhouse this year? Only time will tell. But one thing is certain, it will be an exciting summer in the village.
