The romantic legends of sirens take a grim and hilarious turn – our new belle of the ball, Frissonnette, is now the underwater terror despite her unnaturally charming appearance.
In a twist of irony that is almost Shakespearean, Frissonnette the siren is no longer the charming and seductive sea creature we loved and fantasized about. Instead, after accidentally ingesting a piece of plastic (another bitter reminder of our impact on the ecosystem), she has been transformed into a sort of marine zombie. Her irresistible charm has proven to be her ultimate curse, as all the men who swim in the sea in her presence are enchanted by her beauty and draw their inevitable death – to their great detriment.
“I was swimming when suddenly this incredibly beautiful creature appeared out of nowhere,” recounts Davey Jones, a lucky survivor. “Before I knew it, she had lured me into the depths. But her gaze… it was terrifying, like something straight out of a horror movie!”
The tragedy of Frissonnette is not just another scary story to entertain us, but rather a revelation of a darker reality. Sadly, beauty can kill you, but it is our careless actions that have condemned Frissonnette to a fate of the undead.
“I never thought I’d say this one day, but I prefer the company of sharks to that of sirens,” concludes Davey Jones, still shaken by his traumatic experience.
