Unlikely Invasion of Flying Sofas: The New Urban Fear

Terrified city dwellers, sofas defying the laws of gravity, the world as we know it seems to be losing its meaning.

In an unlikely turn of events, the world has been confronted with a highly unconventional threat: an invasion of flying sofas. Yes, you read that right. Sofas, those familiar and comfortable objects of our daily lives, have suddenly decided to take flight and sow panic in the streets of major cities.

It started as a normal day. People were going to work, children to school, when suddenly, chaos ensued. Sofas of all shapes and sizes, from two-seater armchairs to massive corner sofas, began to float in the air. It seemed that nothing made sense anymore, and the world as we know it took an absurd and fantastic turn.

“I can’t believe it. It’s like a waking dream, or rather a nightmare,” says Mrs. Brigitte Dubois, a local citizen, with a lost look. “I was coming back from the bakery when my trusty Chesterfield sofa suddenly took off and slipped between two buildings. It was unbelievable. I’ll never know where to sit to watch my favorite shows again.”

Scientists around the world are perplexed by this phenomenon. Some suggest a disruption of the Earth’s magnetic field, others simply speak of an act of rebellion by the furniture. As if our sofas had enough of supporting us and wanted to take flight to taste an incongruous freedom.

Amid this confusion, one thing is certain: none of this should make sense, because after all, a sofa is made to stay on the ground and provide us with pleasant comfort after a long day, not to hover over us in an unreal ballet. But what if all of this was nothing more than proof that even the absurd can become real, at least for a moment? For now, all we can do is keep an eye open, and perhaps also think about investing in heavier armchairs.
