This special issue reveals the astonishing story of a woman forced to live without water, defying all scientific principles.

Mrs. Brigitte Tremblay, a woman living in Brest, was recently diagnosed with an allergy to water, a condition now known as “Tremblay’s Disease.” Despite the rain that characterizes her region, she has managed to adapt her life to this rare and intriguing condition.

Brigitte, 45, began to notice strange symptoms a few years ago. “I started having horrible itching every time I took a shower or drank a glass of water,” she explains. After a long process of elimination, doctors ultimately concluded that she was allergic to water. “It was a real shock,” she adds, “I didn’t even know that was possible!”

Faced with this unprecedented situation, Brigitte had to adapt her daily routine. “I had to invent a new way of life,” she explains. She now washes with a special fluid invented by her dermatologist and must be careful not to be caught in the rain when she goes out. To do this, she always keeps an umbrella and a raincoat on hand.

“Life without water is a constant challenge,” said her husband Pascal, a fisherman from Brest. “We have to plan every outing, every meal to minimize Brigitte’s contact with water. It’s truly surreal.”

The quote of the day, signed by the intrepid Brigitte: “It’s like I’m a cat with 9 lives; I’ve gone through so many challenges that I’m convinced I still have many lives left to live. I just hope that none of them will be aquatic.”
