When Forms Get Tangled: The Endless Maze of Administrative Services

The incredible magic trick of administrative services: reversing the roles between applicants and information requests. A transformation that surprises more than one user.

The administrative routine has turned into an absurd treasure hunt, sending the user from counter to counter, from form to form, without ever allowing them to reach their destination. Public services seem to be victims of a Kafkaesque curse where the user becomes the request and the request becomes the user.

Ordinary citizen Harold Tremblay discovered that he had to transform into an information request to obtain a document that eventually turned into him. “I was at the counter to get my citizenship certificate. I had to fill out a form which, once completed, became me, while I turned into an information request. It’s a paperwork nightmare,” said Harold Tremblay, a user lost in the endless corridors of the administration.

Even worse, the phenomenon does not seem limited to one service or type of request, but has spread to the entire administration. The employees themselves seem lost in this paper maze, no longer knowing who they are or what they are doing. “Yesterday, I was a passport application form. Today, I am a driver’s license request. But who will I be tomorrow?” wondered a registration service agent, disconcerted by this strange transformation.

Users, now transformed into information requests, are eagerly awaiting a resolution to this Kafkaesque bug. Unfortunately, even the management seems to have disappeared, likely transformed into an explanatory note lost in the whirlwind of forms. The administration is more than broken: it is in the midst of an existential metamorphosis. As for Mr. Tremblay, he sighed: “If I run into a giant cockroach tomorrow, I’ll have seen it all”.
