In a world where administrative tasks reign supreme, citizens find themselves trapped in an inextricable bureaucratic maze.
The imaginary nation of Absurdistan, whose administration has become a symbol of the Kafkaesque paradox, is not without reminding us of certain surreal situations encountered in our daily lives. In this kingdom of the absurd, administrative requests are as numerous as they are incomprehensible, ensnaring citizens in a vicious circle of misunderstanding and frustration.
Such a situation, albeit fictitious, is nonetheless a reflection of a reality that many frequently encounter. Renewing a driver’s license requires proof of residence, but to obtain that, the town hall asks for the driver’s license. The citizen thus finds themselves trapped in an absurd situation that keeps them in an endless wait.
“At first, I thought it was a joke,” says Paul S., a fictional resident of Absurdistan. “But after going around in circles for weeks, I had to face the facts. It’s a never-ending nightmare.”
Experts on the subject, entirely imaginary, agree that this is the strength of Absurdistan: an administration that, in its desire to control everything, becomes mired in its own rules, creating a Kafkaesque universe where the simplest requests turn into titanic challenges.
The reality depicted by this caricature of Absurdistan reflects a deep unease in our relationship with administration. The time seems ripe to seriously consider ways to simplify and humanize these tasks, often perceived as insurmountable walls. To echo the words of our poor Paul S.: “Perhaps it’s time to rethink our way of doing things before absurdity becomes the norm.”
