A man from the Midwest mysteriously inherits Ernest Hemingway’s cat. Upon removing the feline’s collar, he discovers a microfilm containing an unfinished novel by the legendary author.

In a sleight of hand that would escape even the craftiest of illusionists, Billy Johnson, a plumber from Ohio, has suddenly become the improbable heir of ‘Snowball’, the cat of renowned writer Ernest Hemingway. Not only that, but in an even more astonishing twist, an unfinished novel by the author of “A Farewell to Arms” has been discovered, microfilmed and hidden in the collar of the beast.

Johnson recounts: “I’ve never been a cat person, but when the notary told me I inherited this old feline, I couldn’t resist. Snowball is a beautiful creature, but when I took off his collar to brush him, I found a small metal cylinder. I was stunned.”

Inside the cylinder, Johnson discovered a microfilm containing what appeared to be the text of a novel.

After hiring a specialist to decipher the microfilm, Johnson was astonished to find out that the text was actually an unpublished novel by Hemingway, titled “The Last Voyage.” Hemingway, famous for his concise and unadorned prose, seems to have hidden a literary treasure in his cat’s collar.

“I don’t know how this novel got there,” Johnson said. “It’s absolutely incredible. Experts say the writing style is undeniably Hemingway’s. It seems he kept this treasure to himself all this time, in plain sight but hidden at the same time. It’s fantastic.”

Silverman, the specialist hired to decipher the microfilm, could only confirm. “This is pure Hemingway. Tragic, concise, and profoundly human. This is a major literary discovery, and the way it was found is worthy of a novel in itself.”

As literary experts from around the world rush to examine this unexpected addition to Hemingway’s work, Johnson finds himself catapulted into the limelight, whether he likes it or not.

He added, “I was just looking to inherit a cat. Now, I’m the guardian of a piece of literary history. It’s absolutely crazy. But you know, Snowball seems happy. He’s probably glad that his secret has finally been revealed.”
