Who said that technology and the past don’t mix well? A man followed his GPS right into his own… grave.
The victim, a man in his forties obsessed with technology, experienced an evening worthy of a Black Mirror episode. As he blindly followed the instructions of his GPS navigator, our hero found himself engulfed in an old cemetery, his car stuck in an ancestral tomb.
“The man got out of his car, completely lost, wondering if his Waze app had signed him up for a morbid scavenger hunt,” recounts a witness. “He kept repeating: ‘But where is the exit? Waze says I’ve arrived!’” It took the intervention of firefighters to extract the man and his vehicle from this unexpected situation.
His wife, Mrs. Lerouge, confided to us with a hint of irony: “I’ve always told him to stop listening to that annoying voice and to look up at the road. But who listens to their wife these days? Maybe he’ll turn up the volume on my voice when he gets home now.”
The victim was taken care of by emergency services, shocked but physically unharmed. An investigation has been opened to determine if the cemetery had been properly marked by municipal services, as a spokesperson for Waze stated: “Our maps are very accurate, but we are not yet equipped to avoid macabre traffic jams.”
In the meantime, for those who still think that technology is infallible, this story serves as a reminder that sometimes, even the best GPS can lead you straight… into a grave.
