At 7:12 a.m., Gérard faced off against his alarm clock in a no-holds-barred duel.
Preliminary tally: one silenced alarm, two missing slippers, and a coffee in a state of shock.
The incident took place Tuesday morning in a bedroom in Saint-Pas-Vite, where Gérard, 43, tried to negotiate five extra minutes with his alarm clock. Faced with the device’s stubborn refusal, he opted for a surprise attack: an elbow jab, followed by a spectacular dive under the duvet.
“I thought it had gotten the message,” his partner recounts. “But it started ringing again as soon as Gérard closed his eyes. A real betrayal.”
Roused by force, the man finally left his bed at 7:46 a.m., after accusing the pillow of complicity. He showed up to breakfast wearing mismatched slippers and the dignity of a defeated general.
As for the alarm clock, it was placed in custody on the nightstand. It did not wish to answer our questions, but is said to have emitted a beep.
