A scandal of disproportionate proportions erupts in the midst of the biggest pumpkin contest in L’Orée du Bois, calling into question the innocence of its famous gardener, Claude Truffaut.

These accusations arise following a shocking discovery made by Gisèle Bouchard, a long-time competitor and resident of the village. According to her, Claude Truffaut allegedly used an unauthorized fertilizer to grow his pumpkin.

“I saw a bottle in his greenhouse, it was labeled ‘Turbo-Pumpkin 3000,’ it’s a banned product in our contest,” she exclaims, still in shock. “It’s completely unfair to us, who work hard to grow our pumpkins naturally and without cheating.”

The rumor quickly spread throughout the small village: Claude Truffaut’s winning pumpkin might be doped. The contest rules indeed stipulate that only natural fertilizers are allowed, in order to maintain fairness among competitors. The announcement of this possible cheating has cast a chill among the residents, who take this contest very seriously, a tradition that has lasted for generations.

“It is inconceivable that a member of our community could break our rules in this way. L’Orée du Bois values fairness and loyalty; that has always been the strength of our contest,” declares Albert Bonnet, the village mayor, clearly saddened by the situation.

Claude Truffaut, for his part, vehemently denies the allegations. “My pumpkins have always been the biggest, and I’ve never needed to cheat to win. It’s pure jealousy,” he insists. The investigation is ongoing, and only the fertilizer test could confirm or refute these accusations.

The outcome of this scandal now revolves around a crucial question: is Claude Truffaut’s pumpkin a doped pumpkin or simply an exceptional pumpkin? The answer could very well disrupt the tranquility of L’Orée du Bois and its inhabitants.
