A new form of archaeology has emerged. Instead of digging into the earth, this man digs into the vaults of high-society ladies!
Jeremy Stroud, an ordinary 45-year-old British citizen, has discovered a lucrative new market – breaking the hearts of elderly high-society women, burying their hopes, and, quite literally, digging deeper after their natural deaths. With his gentlemanly charm and devastating smile, he has managed to become the favorite of lonely widows in the elite circle, before transforming into an underground treasure hunter after their demise.
Stroud, an unemployed bank employee, found this golden opportunity during his previous job where he managed the accounts of wealthy elderly individuals. “I had three options,” he says, “Stay poor, rob a bank, or use my irresistible charm on lonely, rich widows. I chose the third; it was more legal.”
Quickly, he cultivated romantic relationships with these ladies, becoming their best friend, confidant, and occasionally, their last love. His only criterion: they had to own high-quality jewelry. After their death, he would retrieve this jewelry under the pretense of keeping it in their honor. “There’s something romantic about inheriting a woman’s love after her death,” declares this Don Juan of cemeteries, “and if it comes with diamonds, who am I to say no?”
The world had never seen such a passion for mortuary archaeology until one of his treasures mysteriously disappeared. Stroud then realized that someone else had begun digging. “It’s a cruel world,” he laments, “you can’t even trust the dead to keep your secrets.”
However, despite the challenges, Stroud remains optimistic about his new career. “I love my job, it’s exciting,” he says with a smile, “and you wouldn’t believe the things these old ladies like to take with them to the grave!”
