SENSATIONAL REVELATION: HIS DOG SPEAKS FLUENT SPANISH

At the beginning: A resident of the town of Brou-en-Bagine claims that his dog speaks fluent Spanish. A story as strange as it is disconcerting.

Article:

In the pleasant little town of Brou-en-Bagine, a certain Jean-Michel Quarante-Deux, a good local man, unblinkingly asserts that his dog, a Maltese bichon named Pedro, speaks fluent Spanish. Yes, you read that right, a French-speaking dog that chatters in Spanish. We haven’t heard such a fable since the story of that frog who recited Shakespeare.

Jean-Michel, a retired man passionate about ornithology and homemade tiramisu, testifies, “I adopted him from a shelter a few years ago. He started barking with a strange accent, then one day he asked ‘Donde esta el baño?’ and then I knew!”

The story has caused quite a stir in the small town. Several neighbors claim to have heard Pedro asking for “un poco de agua por favor” during walks in the park. Of course, this story has also attracted the attention of the media, curious to meet this bichon who masters the language of Cervantes.

“He even corrected my accent once. I told him ‘Pedro, quieres un poco de comida?’ and he replied ‘No, no, no, Jean-Michel. It’s ‘quieres UN POCO de comida”. Interesting, but a bit scary, isn’t it?

The case is in the hands of the animal linguistics experts from Lille, who have been sent to examine the dog. Meanwhile, Jean-Michel is considering opening a language school for pets. “I’m sure Pedro could be an excellent teacher,” he says, “and it would be a change from parrots!”
