The grim scene took place on Broadway when a renowned comedian was, quite literally, killed by his own punchline.
In a tragic turn of events, famous comedian Jerry “Joker” Johnson passed away on stage this weekend, but he left the audience roaring with laughter, unaware of the drama that had just unfolded.
Johnson, known for his sharp humor and edgy jokes, was in the middle of his performance when he delivered the joke that ultimately proved fatal. According to witnesses, the comedian had recently specialized in “deadly funny” jokes, and indeed, that was an accurate description.
“It was one of Jerry’s best performances,” testified Sally Standup, a long-time fan of the comedian. “He made a joke, then he started laughing and he never stopped. We all thought it was part of his act until we realized he couldn’t breathe anymore.”
The joke, which Johnson labeled as “his best creation,” was apparently so hilarious that it caused him to choke with laughter on stage. Despite desperate efforts from security and medical personnel to save him, the comedian did not survive.
“I always said Jerry would be the first to die laughing,” said his agent Charlie Chortle. “I never thought it would be so literal. His joke will be remembered by everyone who was there.”
Despite this tragedy, the audience and Johnson’s loved ones find solace in the fact that he died doing what he loved: making people laugh. His last words, though tragic, were his best joke and his final triumph on stage.
