The most beautiful lawn in the county has been ravaged. The suspect: a garden gnome with sharp teeth!
In the pleasant town of Lawngrace, known for its impeccably maintained gardens, an unsuspected tragedy has occurred. The prestigious ‘Golden Lawn’ award, given each year to the owner of the most beautiful lawn in the county, has been thrown into question following an unexpected and devastating lawn attack.
The victim, Eustace Grassworthy, proud holder of the title for three consecutive years, woke up on Wednesday morning to discover his beautiful lawn reduced to nothing. Amidst the wreckage, a garden gnome that was not there the day before. Standing, its mouth full of grass, it seemed to defy Grassworthy.
“He was there, on my lawn, gorging on my pride,” says Grassworthy, holding a rake, ready to defend his land at all costs. “I bought it at a garage sale, I thought it would bring a bit of charm to my garden. I had no idea it had a taste for high-quality grass!”
According to experts, this is the first recorded case of a carnivorous garden gnome. “Generally, these ceramic creatures are benevolent and only aspire to decorate your gardens,” explains Dr. Pebbleman, a garden statuary specialist. “But sometimes a production anomaly gives them a craving for greenery.”
A thorough investigation has been opened to determine whether Grassworthy’s gnome is an isolated case or the first of an army of hungry gnomes ready to ravage the country’s lawns. In the meantime, Grassworthy is not giving up: “I’m going to roll up my sleeves, get out the mower, and reclaim that Golden Lawn. The gnome has won a battle, but not the war!” He asserts, determined.
