In the beginning, eloquent giraffes are asking to be heard on the international stage. They choose the United Nations as a platform to convey their message.
Surprising everyone, a delegation of eloquent giraffes interrupted the United Nations General Assembly today. The majestic long-necks, dressed in custom-made diplomatic collars, delivered a well-articulated speech, demanding that their species be represented in global deliberations. Although perplexed, the delegates respectfully listened.
“The time has come to recognize our ancestral wisdom,” declared the giraffe ambassador, Gisèle, alluding to her species’ long history on the planet. “We have been witnesses to human activities for centuries, remaining silent, but today, we demand a seat at the table – or rather, due to our height, a seat next to the table.”
Ambassador Gisèle added: “We promise not to bury our heads in the sand like some species we know, but to bring our clear and elevated view of global challenges. After all, from our point of view, we can see much further than any other animal.”
The giraffes’ argument received a mixed reception among human delegates, some being openly skeptical, while others were visibly moved by Ambassador Gisèle’s eloquence and passion. Undeterred by the reaction, she concluded by quoting a famous savannah saying: “A giraffe does not change the spots on its coat, but it can change the world’s vision.”
Despite the absurdity of the situation, the giraffes’ message was well received: the voice of all inhabitants of the planet, whether human or not, must be heard and respected. After all, are we not all citizens of the world, two or four-legged, small or large, feathered or furred? The question remains open…
