The Great White Pudding Battle has shaken the Lys Valley

An epic culinary rivalry is on the horizon, as the two butchers of the village wage a relentless war over their white puddings. Who will win the battle of the best pudding in the valley?

Every year in Autumn, the residents of the peaceful Lys Valley witness an unusual spectacle: the war of the white puddings. The two sole butchers of the village, Marcel Dominguet and Lucas Benoit, engage in a merciless struggle to determine who offers the best white pudding.

The origin of this competition dates back nearly ten years. Marcel Dominguet, the village’s historic butcher, suddenly found himself competing with the young and dynamic Lucas Benoit. Convinced that his long experience gave him an indisputable supremacy, Dominguet challenged Benoit on the preparation of the white pudding, considered the jewel of the local charcuterie. Since then, every last Saturday in November, the villagers are invited to taste and judge the quality of the two puddings.

“I really think I have the advantage this year,” declared Lucas Benoit. “I’ve introduced a touch of nutmeg into my recipe which makes all the difference. But don’t tell Marcel!”

For his part, Marcel Dominguet, faithful to his traditional recipe, does not seem to be destabilized by the claims of his young opponent. “This kid thinks that a few exotic spices will make more of a difference than my years of experience? He has a lot to learn,” he chuckled.

Even though the competition remains friendly, the atmosphere is palpable as judgment day approaches. The villagers seem divided, some remaining loyal to Marcel’s experience, others seduced by Lucas’s creativity. The battle is tight and as the village baker, Mrs. Dupont, said, “May the best pudding win!”
