Clown on the run! A circus finds itself without a smile.

The “Barrel of Laughs” circus suddenly finds itself deprived of its major asset as its star clown deserts the ring.

The ink of indignation and astonishment had barely dried following the announcement of the fantastical theft of a pink poodle belonging to the “Barrel of Laughs” circus, when shocking news once again rocked the troupe. Figaro, their star clown who had made thousands of spectators laugh for years, abruptly dropped his red nose and took off.

Finding his wagon empty this morning, the show partners initially believed it to be one joke too many from the comic actor. “If he hadn’t taken his red nose, I would have thought he was still playing a prank on us,” recounts Biscotto, the trapeze artist, his gaze lost in the distance, still in shock. “But Figaro without his red nose is not Figaro anymore.”

Plunged into total incomprehension, the “Barrel of Laughs” circus is in full crisis. Barely recovering from the theft of their pink poodle, they now find themselves without their mascot. “It’s as if our reason for being has been taken from us,” confides Mrs. Leotard, the lion tamer.

“But what can you do, that’s circus life, one day you laugh and the next, you cry. We can lose a poodle or a clown, but never our ability to laugh,” shares Mr. Loyal, the ringmaster of the circus. He hopes that Figaro will understand the importance of his role and return to them. “After all,” he adds with a touch of irony, “a clown without a circus is like a bird without wings.”

And as the “Barrel of Laughs” circus motto so rightly says: “Laughter is the best medicine, unless you’re a clown short of a red nose.”
